Behold your mother!
(Post Consecration)
I will focus my reflection on the admonition of Fr. Gaitely after Act of Consecration. We know in reality that after
everything is said and done, the results are the things that really matter. He
mentioned three points: renewal, attitude and devotion.
Renewal.
Renew at least once a year with the same formula. Pope John Paul renewed his
consecration every day. We can do this renewal with our families or other
groups.
Attitude.
There is a need for interior dependence on Mary. St. Maximilian Kolbe said: We
must have habitual recourse to our Lady. We can learn this devotion also from
her as we experience her tender care especially to Jesus. The proper attitude
flows not so much from reason or emotion but from the will. Mary will lead us to Jesus through the Holy Spirit. After the
consecration, Mother Mary will lead us to deepest intimacy with Jesus.
Devotion.
Preeminent is the rosary. We have the novenas and antiphons and also our feast
day of the Our Lady of Assumption. The other things he advises are: “Icons,
novenas, pilgrimages, feast days, confraternities, and spiritual readings.
“(Gaitely, Fr. Michael, 33 Days to Morning Glory, Marian Press, pp.132-135)
As we consecrate ourseveles, may we
be renewed always through the school of our Blessed Mother, change our
attitudes and constantly devote ourselves to her. We will grow in Holiness to
Jesus.
